Covid 19 Update

The Cold Lake Public Library will be closed to the public beginning at midnight tonight (April 6, 2021). While we are closed, curbside pick-ups can be arranged at either branch with a phone call: (780) 594-5101 for the South Branch and (780) 639-3967 for the North Branch. The book drops will remain open for returns.

Type of Employment: Summer Employment for 8 weeks
Hours:35 hours per week from approximately June 8, 2021 to August 8, 2021, $15.00 per hour
Location:South Branch of the Cold Lake Public Library

LANDSCAPE/GARDEN LABOURER

Job Description: Is responsible for the maintenance and development of the outdoor “Reading Garden” and indoor Hydroponic System.

Training / Education
  • Must be 15 – 30 years of age.
  • basic knowledge and understanding of gardening.
  • A willingness to learn.
  • Under the general supervision of the Administrative Assistant.
Personal Qualities
  • Ability to follow through with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in an increasingly team-based organization.
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry containers with plant and dirt material.
  • Can work independently and manage multiple, concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities.
  • Proactive attitude toward responsibilities: ability to adapt, plan and execute work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate workflow and procedures to management and staff.
Duties: Including but not limited too:
1.Mow lawn and fencing edges every week, weather permitting,
2.Maintain equipment including recharging batteries, cleaning and storage
3.Weed and maintain flowers, vegetables and all other annual and perennial plants.
4.Maintain composter throughout the year.
5.Establish and sustain the indoor Hydroponic system as required based on plant growth and need.
6.Liaison with Administrative Assistant for programing ideas, new tasks and special events.
7.Monitor tools and repair, maintain, and replace when required.
8.Communicating to staff and Administrative Assistant
9.Initiating suggestions or forwarding comments and suggestions, regarding innovations, improvements, and changes
10.Performing related duties as required and collaborate with staff on any current projects.
11.Integral part of Cold Lake Public Library Team by assisting with other projects and initiatives of The Cold Lake Public Library.
